Many people confused the cloth covering the head as being a hijab. Yes, it is called a hijab but that is not the only thing you are required to cover up in Islam. As you saw in the verse above, the women of belief have been asked not to only cover their heads but to wear the cloaks around them properly. Their body should not be showing.

So, the hijab is dressing modestly so that your body does not show. The hijab is not only for women in Islam but the men too. In Surah Nur, Allah advises the men of belief to
“Cast their looks down and guard their private parts for that is purer for them. Allah is surely aware of what they do”
This shows that the Hijab is in fact in the eyes and the clothes.

Generally, the hijab is seen as a head scarf. This is not true. There are many different hijab styles to choose from. Some women cover up all the hair and the neck.
